THE FAMILY CENTER/LA FAMILIA RECEIVES GRANT FROM DELTA DENTAL OF COLORADO FOUNDATION FOR $50,000

Funds will support providing wrap-around services to 250 people, primarily Latinx individuals, and create leadership committee to launch immigrant resource center.

FORT COLLINS, CO – The Family Center/La Familia (TFC/LF) is pleased to announce it has received a $50,000 grant from Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation. TFC/LF works alongside diverse families to provide high quality childcare and supportive services emphasizing cultural attunement with the Latinx community. The funding will support immigrant community to achieve housing stability, obtain information, and supply distribution, and providing consultation to other entities on how to better serve this population disparately impacted by COVID19. This includes equal access to healthcare services, housing stability, early childhood education, parenting support, transportation, adult education, and workforce training. Also, it will begin the process of exploring the creating of an immigrant community resource center for co-located services.

Over 80% of families served by this program are monolingual, Spanish-speaking, Latinx immigrants. In addition to exacerbating the existing disparities in access to care and social determinants of health, COVID-19 has illuminated the digital divide in Larimer County. COVID-19 rates have been higher among the Latinx workforce, that lacks access to culturally appropriate prevention information. In addition, because of employment in the service sector was largely been shut down since March, the economic impact of job loss has been disproportionately high in the immigrant community, inverse to their ability to access government supported relief.

“We are extremely excited to be the recipient of Delta Dental’s benevolent fund. This is the time to end health and social disparities in our community and release the burden of inequity from our families by providing them with barrier-free access to services, not only during these difficult times but as a long- term solution.” – Gloria Kat, Executive Director

Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation has an active call for applications to provide $2 million in Responsive Community Relief Funding for organizations providing wraparound services to community members most impacted by COVID-19. “Now more than ever, we value the importance of one’s overall

health,” said Adeeb Khan, Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility & Executive Director, Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation. “Coordinated, collaborative wraparound services with multiple options truly empower community members to access and navigate larger systems that impact their health. It’s important to reinforce resources, especially now as so many organizations have stood-up to adapt and deliver new solutions for community members.
