Global Forgiveness Day is on July 7th so we thought it would be a great time to share some resources we’ve found on teaching kids about forgiveness. Forgiveness is one of the best ways we can unite and reunite with one another, especially to embrace our differences and build understanding and stronger cooperation.

While we know it’s important, even as adults it can get easy to get caught up in our own lives and forget that forgiveness is both a practice and a skill. Below we’ve shared some articles and videos on forgiveness and how it can build a sense of unity, enjoy!

First, here is a short video on why forgiveness is so important to teach kids. As they say in the video, forgiveness is a choice and it’s a strength that builds resiliency in children. Then these two articles share 10 easy ways to teach and help kids consider forgiveness.

Next, we found a couple really cute, kid friendly videos (and a song from Trolls!) about forgiveness, check them out:

Singa and the Kindness Cubbies

Rosa Learns Forgiveness

Tiger and Badger

The Forgiving Tree – The Berenstain Bears

Branch’s Apology Song

And to round out all of these awesome resources, here are a couple other blogs with some great books about forgiveness you can buy or pick up at the library:

All of this work is put in practice at El Nidito, The Little Nest, to help the kids we work with learn to grow skills in forgiveness. Learn more about how you can support this work with monthly donations here: https://thefamilycenterfc.org/grow/
