El Nidito / The Little Nest
The Family Center/La Familia’s Early Care and Education Program is dedicated to providing safe, stimulating and nurturing education for young children. Our program, known as El Nidito, or “The Little Nest,” is a state licensed, Colorado Shines Rated, School Readiness site. With our curriculum we encourage learning through exploration and discovery, and we enable children to develop confidence, creativity, and critical thinking skills that will support them throughout their lives. We utilize the evidence-based assessment tool, Teaching Strategies GOLD, which shows children’s progress in all learning domains and all age groups. El Nidito provides a truly unique, multi-cultural, bi-lingual experience for children and families. We are dedicated to providing high-quality care and education for infants, toddlers, and pre-school-age children.
Early Head Start (EHS)
Early Head Start serves children under the age of 3 and pregnant women. EHS provides early, continuous, intensive, and comprehensive child development and family support services to low-income infants and toddlers and their families, and pregnant women and their families. The Family Center is currently the only Center in Larimer County that offers EHS.
Colorado Preschool Program (CPP)
The Colorado Preschool Program (CPP) is a state funded program designed to provide high quality early care and education to children for 1-2 years before entering Kindergarten with priority being placed on 4-year-olds. Children qualify for the program based on requirements set forth by the State of Colorado with a focus on children who need language development or who lack overall school and learning readiness. A vital component of CPP is to strengthen families and support them as participants in their child’s education. This is a part day program that runs Monday through Thursday, with the school year.
Meet Amber and Max
Max is doing well in Kindergarten, though he misses his friends at The Family Center/La Familia, where he had been in the early childhood education program since he was a baby. As a single parent, his mom Amber was seeking an affordable and supportive child care environment for her son. She found this at The Family Center and has been able to earn her Associates Degree while also working.
