The United Way of Larimer County has been a wonderful supporter of The Family Center/La Familia for years. This year, amid a pandemic, and the challenge for organizations like ours to continue providing the community with our essential services, they stepped in even further. The United Way has helped us and so many organizations in our community so we wanted to share more about their work as a small note of gratitude for ALL that they do for our Northern Colorado community.
The mission of the United Way is to “lead philanthropy in our community, ensuring that gifts of time, talent and treasure address today’s greatest needs – and reduce tomorrow’s.”
Their core values are leadership, accountability, trustworthiness, community, and heart. They enact this mission and values by strengthening Northern Colorado through the cornerstones of education, financial stability, community engagement, and nonprofit excellence. Learn more about how they have enacted these values and initiatives on their website where you can read the stories of the Oliver Family and Jaramillo Family.
Some other highlights of their work include:
- Childcare fund – local organizations can apply on behalf of families in need.
- 2-1-1 hotline – for wrap-around non-emergency services.
- WomenGive – helps women achieve financial self-sufficiency.
- Colorado Reading Corp – early intervention literacy initiative.
While this information only brushes the surface of all of the work that the United Way does in Larimer County, we are so proud to call them a partner in our work to strengthen and create a more resilient Northern Colorado. Thank you, United Way!
