The Colorado Preschool Program (CPP) is a program that strives to serve the young children in Colorado who are most vulnerable to starting grade school unprepared. The legislature recognizes that providing quality early childhood education will ultimately curb dropout rates, help children achieve their full potential, reduce dependence on public assistance, and decrease susceptibility to partaking in criminal activities.
- CPP provides free, high-quality preschool education to eligible children through participating school districts and partnering community sites. There is no fee for children who qualify.
- Children are funded to attend preschool for a minimum of 10 hours a week during the school year. Preschool programs meet quality standards and limit class size to sixteen.
- CPP classrooms maintain an adult-to-child ratio of one-to-eight.
